| EXTREME TALKING POINT | ~ So EA, I Thought You Said the Frostbite Engine and Wii U = Boom?

'However making Frostbite 3 work on the Wii U is not impossible. Where there are gamers, we’ll be there as well. This is the true meaning of "omnidirectional."

Um....Excuse me? But what happened to this?

It's amazing how much EA has been switching gears when it comes down to Nintendo and the Wii U this year. From the grand proclamation of an "unprecedented partnership" - to the big, fat claim "We're not making games for Wii U" - to the other claim "We are making games for Wii U, just not for this year." Now EA has backtracked on one of it's biggest claims yet...but that leaves the question - why'd they say the opposite in the first place?
It's beyond me as to what kind of pot EA has been smoking this year. They've been up-down-and-round with their claims when it comes down to the Wii U and Nintendo. Why? I really wish I knew.

I literally laughed when they made the big announcement about FB2 not being able to operate properly, so for that (false) reason - they didn't bother with trying to run FB3 on this system. The sad part about this is the fact that they've been seamlessly able to run both engines on the near-decade old systems - PS3 & 360 - while at the same time making the FB3 engine scalable enough to run on an iPhone, which completely dropped a massive bomb in their claim that they couldn't even get FB2 to run on Wii U properly.

All of this nonsense seems to stem from the apparent Origin fallout. Just to recap - Nintendo asked EA to help them build their online infrastructure for the Wii U. EA wanted to integrate their "Origin" service - thus practically giving them ownership to half of the Wii U platform. Nintendo decided to repeat history (read: Sony & PlayStation), and turn down their partner. This caused EA to go sour on them and the Wii U - so in order to spite them, EA decided to cut all the lines of support for Wii U - as well as sending spit bombs on the system all year long. They already had 4 titles in the pipeline, so to save money, they released them - but after that - null.

Yep - EA had no trouble running this on the near-decade old PS360 - but it was SO HARD get it to run on the Wii U - which uses at least 2-year old tech...WOW!

Now here we are - EA has now recently said that the Wii U is low priority to them, and like Ubisoft (and several other devs) - they want to focus their time and resources on the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One. My problem with this is why couldn't EA have just came out and SAID THIS FROM JUMP-STREET? Why did they have to beat around the bush with baseless lies, laughable tantrums, and down-right shameful conduct? For a company that has received the "Worst Company in America" award TWO YEARS IN A ROW now - you'd think they'd be trying to IMPROVE their image - not squander it even further. But oh well - the damage is done and now belongs to the past. And has mere humans, we can't change history - no matter how bad it is.

Now then - What new excuse should EA come up with? Now that they've admitted that FB3 can run just fine on the U (as if nobody already knew) - and that they won't touch it until sales pickup - what other half-baked excuse could they possibly spew?

I'd say absolutely nothing can top the nonsense that they've been erupting all year - but after examining their behavior - I'm sure they'll find something...
